I was in Egypt to go diving, in Sharm and also Marsa Alam which was great. The bits in between were not. Independent travel in Egypt as an older, solo female was an absolute nightmare so arriving and staying for 3 nights in the Pavillion Winter Luxor was a complete God send. On check in, I was greeted by a lovely, smiling lady and I noticed how beautiful the lobby area smelled. Compared to my previous Egyptian experiences, I was greeted with friendliness, professionalism and courtesy and I would like to thank you for that. On leaving, I was asked how I enjoyed my stay, thank you, it was wonderful. My room had a balcony overlooking the gardens where I was enthralled to see flamingos roaming around. Amazing! I used the pool late each day and was helped by the lovely man there and shown to a free lounger and given a towel. Fabulous pool, great for swimming laps. The grounds were amazing, and when I explored the sister older hotel next door, I read about the history of the hotel and the gardens which was fascinating, A big hoorah to the people who keep the grounds and all the trees and bushes in such wonderful condition. Great location, just cross the road you are on the banks of the Nile, but believe me, no sooner do you step foot outside the hotel, you are accosted by someone wanting to sell you a horse carriage ride or felucca trip or take you to their friend's shop etc etc etc. And then you are outside this fabulous bubble of beautifulness and back in Egypt. Breakfast was good, not outstanding in choice but you can sit out on a patio area and look out over gardens, which is nice. The toiletries were really lovely and good quality. Daily, very stylish glass bottle of water and there was a fridge.

The Pavilion Winter is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well-positioned. Our room was tastefully decorated, clean and spacious with a good-sized bathroom complete with bathrobes, slippers and lovely toiletries. During our stay there were 3 dining options on site but you need to be smartly dressed for 2 of them, so we opted for the "casual" BBQ which is served near the swimming pool. There is a buffet offering a variety of vegetables and starters, which changes daily. The meat is brought to the table on a small charcoal grill and is excellent. Various wines are served. Local wines go for around 900 EGP a bottle and were good. The service was excellent and the waiters are very friendly and attentive. It was my birthday and they brought a cake and flowers to the table and I was seranaded by all the waiters. Really special! The breakfast is also a buffet and there is a really good range of products plus tea, coffee, fruit juice etc. Room service is available 24hr. The swimming pool is stunning (and heated) and you can order food and drinks from the bar there until around 5pm. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again. There are security guards outside the hotel complex and the only negative aspect is that the minute you go out of the hotel you are hassled by touts (not the hotel's fault obviously!). We walked a little way down the road and got a taxi for 150Egp to Karnak. The local going rate for a taxi is 100-150EGP for a single journey but you need to establish the price before you get in the taxi. The touts outside the hotel ask for 400.

Breakfast was fantastic; available from 5am - 10:30am which worked great for early tours and lie-ins and on the last day when we left for the airport before 5am we were provided with a takeaway breakfast. We ate breakfast outside in the sunshine overlooking the beautiful gardens in the hotel grounds. The pool was very nice and relaxing and the bar service to your lounger or directly to the in-pool bar was great making it a very pleasurable experience. The room was also very good and the bed was actually a super king rather than a king size as expected which was a nice surprise. There was a spacious balcony overlooking the garden and the air conditioning was good. The hotel was situated away from all the hustle and bustle of the main street and the noise difference was noticeable once you got into the hotel grounds.

The hotel has a beautiful green garden, with even flamingos strolling through in the early hours. It truly was a sight to behold and created a serene atmosphere that provided a much-needed escape from the bustling city nearby. Paradise vibes could also be felt at the hotel's pool. The breakfast served in the garden was the best breakfast we had during our entire trip in Egypt. A wide variety of options, including lots of fresh fruits and a chef who prepared delicious pancakes and omelets. The staff members were friendly and attentive. When we encountered a disturbance from the neighboring room in the middle of the night, the staff resolved the issue immediately.

This is a superb hotel that pretty much matches any five-star hotel I've ever stayed in, but at a far more affordable price! The staff were lovely and were able to facilitate a connecting room for us, which may seem small but made our evening! The swimming pool is perfect for hot days and there are lots of chairs set out which they provide towels to cover. The room service is of a good quality and very reasonably priced. They provide the usual slippers and dressing gown which are always a nice touch, and the room cleaning team left flowers and little towel statues for my sister which thrilled her!
